I’d suggest, since you are interested in project management, that you check out the Project Management Institute (www.PMI.org) and join both PMI and your PMI Local Chapter. There are also online communities of practice in nearly every interest area and industry you can think of!

I am from engineering baground but I want to do career in Project Management as I want to inteact with more and more people and try to achieve goals with leading a team together in Life.

Hi Hamide,

I wouldn’t recommend focusing so much on software to manage projects. Certainly the software will support your efforts – but I would suggest you focus on the practical use of project management and worry about software later. There are many templates available to document your projects. Check out the templates link on my site to download some templates you may find of value, along with some samples of those templates in use. Additionally, as a beginner, I would certainly recommend you join your local Project Management Institute Chapter (one in your area) – lots of great educational opportunities and networking opportunities. See PMI’s website at http://www.PMI.org. Additionally, as a member of PMI (definitely join if you haven’t already) – you’ll find lots of resources to help you in your start as a project manager. Once you join the chapter by you, ask your fellow members software they are using in their jobs. You’ll find this way what is common software in use in your area for managing projects. But again, don’t focus on the software as much as applying the skills.
